Welcome back after the Easter holidays.  We have a new topic to look forward to and are linking the two half terms together.  In the coming half term we are looking at the country of Greece and then delving into its past to find out about life during the Ancient Greek period of history.  After half term, along with the rest of the school, we are developing our learning to include the Olympic Games, especially as it is being held in London.  The children will develop their skills of enquiry by undertaking research projects linked to this theme.

In science we are exploring the different properties of materials.  The children will evaluate the purpose and usefulness of different materials for different activities – for example, why is glass a good material for windows?  Yes, we do include that!

We are hoping to book a school trip to Eureka, at Halifax.  This is a very ‘hands on’ children’s museum who are offering a workshop all about The Ancient Greeks and The First Olympics so it is very relevant to our current learning – we will confirm this later when dates are confirmed, although it will be after the half term holiday.

Our whole class assembly will now be on Friday May 11th at 9.00.  This date has changed a couple of times already and so we apologise for this.  Hopefully, this date is fixed now!
